Europe orders checks on A350 planes after engine fire on Cathay flight

Europe’s air safety regulator has ordered inspections on engines of an Airbus jet following a fire on a Cathay Pacific flight. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said it was taking action to prevent similar incidents. The move affects the larger model of the A350, the A350-1000, which represents 15% of the A350 fleet. EASA has given airlines between three and 30 days to carry out visual checks and measurements on the fuel hoses. Rolls-Royce and Airbus said they were working with authorities to comply with the directive.
